All of the truths that have ever been revealed to the world—through particular individuals or works of literature to mention a few—could only have been accomplished by a master. People who KNOW their stuff made the computers we use the clothes we wear and the books we read. One of my friends is a fantastic artist. He can quickly create an almost flawless sketch of a horse if you show him a picture of one. His artwork immediately astonishes viewers. They refer to him as a master a genius and someone with talent. I concur with them even at the ripe old age of 20 I think he is a master. I kept thinking Theres no way he can be a master right? I mean hes so young! How can he possibly be so talented? as I allowed myself to feel jealous of my friend the genius artist. I was brave enough to ask him how he became so talented one day. “You have to tell me…how did you get so good? ” My friend a modest man smiled as I approached his room knocked on his door and looked at his artwork after he let me in. He understood what it took to become as good an artist as he was so he didnt feel the need to brag. In reply he stated. John years of practice. years of experience. . . Everyone is curious by nature but no one is gifted. There was nothing extraordinary about my friend. I didnt have any advantages over him. He was a master in his own right though. He began drawing at a very young age and kept doing so for many years until he felt that art came easily to him. He dedicated his entire being to such an intriguing craft that it became a part of him. It is somewhat similar to my writing. For as long as I can remember I have been writing stories and drawing even though I dont think of myself as a master writer—quite the opposite. I remember being skilled at expressing emotion in both my writing and my artwork. When I first started drawing however I recall telling myself that it was hard and that I would need to practice just to get at least passable. I eventually stopped drawing though I plan to pick it up again this summer but I couldnt give up writing. All of this resulted from my curiosity about how words could be crafted into a sentence so beautifully that it would evoke strong feelings in another person. I had no idea that I would use this talent to launch my own blog one day. Do as much practice as you can. I now realize that you must be a practitioner before you can become a master. Even if youre not naturally skilled at your craft you can become a master through practice comprehension and the incorporation of outside information on your subject. A person can only truly be a master if they give their all to a cause. . Therefore mastery requires a persons whole being. Einstein Albert. Put all of your effort into the thing you wish to excel at. By practicing for longer than you believe anyone else would you can surpass them. It really just takes that. |
